In this episode, a police officer will come and help to handle

the big issue. Is he a good helper?

Have you been drinking tonight, son?

「重要发音技巧」

Welcome back. This episode is truly frightening, right? I am

just wondering what the witch creature will do? Will she truly eat

people? I totally have no idea. I think the only thing that we can

do is to wait for the next episode. Anyway, let’s learn some

important tips of pronunciations first.

1. 缩读

如果两个单词一起读,前一个单词的末尾字母是t或者是d,后一个单词的首字母为辅音,很多时候t和d都会被爆掉,直接不发音,只保留半口的小停顿。

在文章中,警官说了句:

Okay, calm down, calm down. Lemme see your eyes

那么这里的 let me 变成 lemme。所以乍一看,可能觉得拼写错误,但是这是一种非常口语化的表达方式。

例如:

Let me go. = Lemme go. 让我走。

Let me in. = Lemme in. 让我进来。

同样的用法有:

give me = gimme

2. 辅元连读

一句话中相邻的两个单词,前一个单词以辅音结尾,后一个单词以元音开始,拼读成“辅音+元音”的连读。

文章中:

We suspected her of being a kidnapper or rapist but it

turns out she’s an alien or something.

我们怀疑她是个绑架嫌疑人或是强奸犯,但结果她是个外星人或其他什么东西。

例如:

an apple → anapple

…when a boy → …whena boy

in addition → inaddition

take it → takit

It means a living thing, real or imaginary, that can move

around, such as an animal.

它指的是一个生物,真实的或者是想象出来的,可以到处移动的,例如一个动物。

某人的傀儡

It means a person or thing that depends completely on

somebody else and is controlled by them.

它指的是一个人或者物体完全依靠其他人并且受他人的控制。

例句:

Most living creatures are capable of adaptation when

compelled to do so .

大多数生物都能在迫于压力的情况下适应新环境。

2. break free [breɪk friː] 摆脱对方防守

break [breɪk] v. 打破,逃脱

free [friː] adv. 脱离束缚

It means escaping from something that stops someone

moving. So you can say break free from ropes, chains or even

a relationship.

它指的是从阻碍某人的事物中逃脱。所以,你可以说,脱离绳子,链条,甚至是一段关系的束缚。

例句:

He cannot seem to break free of her.

他好像跳不出她的掌心。(他逃脱不了她的束缚。)

3. kidnapper ['kɪdnæpə(r)] n. 绑匪

It means someone who unlawfully seizes and detains a

victim (usually for ransom).

它是指非法逮捕和扣押受害者(通常是为了赎金)的人。

In this dialogue, the creature was suspected to be a

kidnapper or rapist but it turned out she was an alien or

something.

在这个对话中,此生物被怀疑是一个劫匪或者是强奸犯,但结果她是个外星人或其他什么东西。

例句:

After her release, she was able to give vital information

about her kidnapper.

4. alien [ˈeɪliən] n. 外星人,外星生物

It means a creature from outer space in science fiction.

它是指在科幻小说中来自外太空的生物。

In this dialogue, the creature turned out to be an alien or

something.

在对话中,这个生物原来是个外星人或其他什么东西。

例句:

Jim is an alien in this film.

吉姆在这部电影里是个外星人。

「实用口语表达」

1. What the heck is going on?

到底发生什么事了?

It means what is happening. It is a very strong way of

saying what’s happening.

它指的是发生什么事了。是一种非常强烈的方式去说发生什么事了。

例句:

What the heck is going on with the lights?

见鬼这些灯怎么回事?

注意:heck是一种礼貌的方式说hell。在美语中会避免说一些宗教类的词,如hell, God和Jesus, 在美国认为说这些词是不礼貌的。

衍生:

Oh, my gosh! (而不会说 "Oh my God!" )

Geez! (而不会说 "Jesus!")

2. suspect someone of being sth.

怀疑某人是……

It means thinking someone did something but not 100

percent sure.

它是指认为某人做了某事但不是百分百确定。

例句:

The police suspected him of being a bank robber。

警察怀疑他是银行抢劫犯。
