Vector and Scalar

Hello,everyone. We are group 16.

Today our topic is vector and scalar.

Right. Let’s get started.

I’ve divided our presentation into 5 parts.

Let` s see in the contents.

So the first part is introduction.

As we know.

Physical quantities can be

classified under two main headings. Vectors

and Scalars.

So, what is the vector? And the other one

scalar?

Can you give me the definitions use your own

words?

Now,let’s come to the second part.

The definitions of Scalar and Vector.

• Scalars are quantities that are fully

described by a magnitude (or numerical

value) alone.

• Vectors are quantities that are fully

described by both a magnitude and a

direction.

1

So, they are different, they all have magnitude,

but the vector has another thing, which is very

important, direction.

Can you give me some examples of vectors

and scalars?

’s looks at the screen, here are some

pictures of the examples.

The examples of the vectors are velocity,

acceleration(the running car), force(boxing

and kongfu panda) and so on.

And the examples of the scalars are

temperature. distance (a line link the two point

on the map)and so on.

What we said just now was the third part.

The forth part is waiting for us.

Here is an exercise to distinguish the vectors

and the scalars.

You have time to read the question.

• Quantity Category

• a. 5 m

• b. 30 m/sec, East

• c. 20 degrees Celsius

2

• d. 256 bytes

• e. 4000 Calories

And the last part.

Calculating rule

I think it’s very easy for you to understand.

• Parallelogram methods

.Head- to –tail method.

2. Multiplication of Vectors

• The scalar product is a way to multiply

two vectors for yielding a scalar result.

• The vector product

Use the right hand you want me to

explain this in detail? (the right hand rule

is.)

Are there any questions you’d like to ask at

this point?

That’s all. You have been a very attentive

audience, thank you.
