In、on、at加名词或者动名词做时间状语表示不同的意思。In可表达类似during(prep)的作用

door 指建筑物的大门或房间的门,一般有墙有顶,也指车辆等的门。
gate 指校园、公园、工厂、城市或庭院(篱笆)等的大门,通常有墙无顶。
She was thinking that she must reprimand her home help the next morning for such a monstrous piece of

她心想明天上午一定要好好训斥那个干家务的帮手,她竟如此疏忽大意。
Was thinking和thought的区别,在表达时要注意。“在想”和“认为”,汉语中的“在想”包含“在想”和“认为”两个意思,而英语语意表达相对直接一些。这是学习新概念三要去感受、理解、领悟的东西。

注意这里when的翻译,和上句的联系,“她正想着什么,突然”
一、作副词
1. 作疑问副词,用于构成特殊疑问句,意为“什么时候;何时”
When will they come back? When can you finish the work?
2. 作连接副词,引导名词性从句,或与不定式连用,意为“什么时候”
Can you tell me when the bank opens? Have you decided when to go sightseeing?
3. 作关系副词,引导定语从句。
The main school holidays are from mid-December till early February,when the days are long and warm.
二、作从属连词,引导状语从句。
1-1. 表示时间,意为“当……时;在……的时候”
When you see him, please say hello to him. When I reached the station,the train had left.
1-2 用作从属连词,意为“一……就……”,引导时间状语从句。主将从现

4-1. when 从句中使用虚拟语气,意为“本来……却……”
“虽然、然而、可是”,表示转折。

三、作并列连词
引导时间状语从句,表示前面的叙述所没有提到过的信息,对所描述的事件予以引人注目的强调,意为“这时;突然”。或是“在那时,正在这时”,表示时间。这时主句中可以用过去进行时,过去完成时或“ was/were about to do sth. ”结构。大致有以下三种情况:
1. be doing sth. when

一、as if 从句的作用
1. 在look, seem 等系动词后引导表语从句。
如: She looks as if she were ten years younger. It seems as if our team is going to win.
2. 引导方式状语从句。
如: She loves the boy as if she were his mother. The child talked to us as if he were a grown up.
二、as if 还可用于省略句中 如果as if 引导的从句是“主语+系动词”结构,可省略主语和系动词,这样as if 后就只剩下名词、不定式、形容词(短语)、介词短语或分词。
如: He acts as if (he was) a fool. Tom raised his hands as if(he was going)to say something.
She left the room hurriedly as if (she was)angry.
三、as if 从句的语气及时态
1. as if 从句用陈述语气的情况。 当说话者认为句子所述的是真实的或极有可能发生或存在的事实时。
如: It sounds as if it is raining. He talks as if he is drunk.
2. as if 从句用虚拟语气的情况。 当说话人认为句子所述的是不真实的或极少有可能发生或存在的情况时。从句虚拟语气动词时态的形式如下:
(1)如果从句表示与现在事实相反,谓语动词用一般过去时。
如: You look as if you didn’t care. He talks as if he knew where she was.
(2)从句表示与过去事实相反,谓语动词用“had+过去分词”。
如:He talks about Rome as if he had been there before. The girl listened as if she had been turned to stone.
(3)从句表示与将来事实相反,谓语动词用“would/could/might+动词原形”。
如:He opened his mouth as if he would say something. It looks as if it might snow.
