computerized (optionally telecommunications-type) means. In return the receiving centreallocates an operation number which it communicates to the sender and which it entersinto a computer-based surveillance file. The sender applies this operation number 5, withother indications 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6, to an address label A which it attaches to the package is then picked up by the carrier despatched by the receiving centre whichcompares the information on the label A with that entered by the receiving centre on itsmicrocomputer. The invention allows permanent identification and active surveillance ofpackages which it is desired to transport.
