2. Teaching Process
In the First and Second Classes
Part1: Lead-in
Listen to a classic song from the famous American musical High Society and discuss the
following question:
Materialistic possession and true love, which is much important to the singers?
Part2: Words
Read and listen to some sentences and note down the words related to
“having very little money” or ahaving a lot of money.”
In the Third and Fourth Classes
Parti: Pre-reading
Reading tips
Read the entire passage even if you do not know all the words. Do not to stop to look up
unfamiliar words. Focus on the main idea of the whole passage.
Part 2: Fast Reading
Before the third and fourth class, students should preview the reading A.
In class, students will have 10 ms to read it again and complete task A on page 88.
Part 3: Careful Reading
First, listen to the tape para by para.
Second, a certain student read one para.
Third, a certain student translate some sentences which have different expression in
Chinese.
Forth, teacher explain the difficult and complex sentences.
Part 4: Language points
(1) appetite
n. a desire for food
e.g. All that walking has given me an appetite for dinner.

n. a false belief about yourself or the situation you are in
e.g. He is under the delusion that I am going to cheat him.

e.g. The forest has plenty of game.
A good hunter always has game on the table.
(6) manufacturer
n. a company that makes large quantities of Send these faulty goods back to the
manufacturer.
She wants to buy direct from the manufacturer and cut out the middleman.
(7) multiply
v. to increase by a large amount or number
e.g. The amount of information available has multiplied.
Smoking multiplies the risk of heart attacks and other health problems.
(8) equadruple
v. to increase and become four times as big or as high, or to make something increase in
this way
e.g. Food prices quadrupled during the war.
The company has quadrupled its profits in just three years.
(9) regain
v. to get something back that you have lost; recover
e.g. When she regained consciousness, she was lying on the floor.

e.g. TV must cater for many different tastes. Vegetarians are well catered for.

Part 5: Sentence structure
(1) Children, boys, youth, gents, ladies, artisans, professional men, even kings and
peers, are catered for; but the millionaire' s custom is evidently not worth having: there

Students of Group 5 should prepare presentation under the title of Crisis
intervention How to become a millionaire before class and show it in this class. The
time is 15 minutes.
Part 2:Culture tips
Teacher and students read the small article about dreams on ancient cultures on
page 103 together and enjoy it.
Part 3:Questions and Answers
Students review this unit and ask question if they have, and the teacher answers
the questions.

效果的同学,因此,老师建议学生对本篇文章反复阅读,甚至可以背
诵。
2 .本课的语法内容非常简单,是讲for和because的区别,但这两者的 区别几句话便可以讲清楚,所以可以由点到面,系统向同学们讲解状语 从句。
3 .本课的词法知识点与上节课相关,这两课的词法知识点系统性不强,
重点在于培养学生副词和动词搭配记忆的思维,老师结合教学视频帮助
学生梳理了词汇。
4 .本课的culture tip内容拓展性适中,但一些同学的presentation仅仅是
局限于课文,趣味性较差。
