Accept life as it is

I learned how to accept life as it is from my father. However .He did not teach me

acceptance when he was strong and healthy .but rather when he was weak and ill.

My father was once a strong man who loved being active ,but a terrible illness took

all that away. Now he can no longer walk, and he must sit quietly in a chair all day. Even talking

is difficult .One night, I went to visit him with my sisters ,we started talking about

life, and I told them about one of my beliefs .I said that we must always give things up

as we grow----our youth, our beauty , our friends---but it always seems that after

we give something up. We gain something new in its place. Then suddenly my father spoke

up. He said ,”But,Peter.I gave up everything ! What did I gain?” I thought and thought ,but

I could not think of anything to say . Surprisingly ,he answered his own question :”I

gained the love of my family.” I looked at my sisters, and saw tears in their eyes, along with

hope and thankfulness.

I was also touched by his words. After that ,when I began to fell irritated (愤怒的)at

someone. I would remember his words and become calm .If he could replace his

great pain with a feeling of love for others, then I should be able to give up my small

irritations. In this way ,I learned the power of acceptance from my father.

Sometimes I wonder what other things I could have learned from him if I had listened

more carefully when I was a boy . For now, though, I am grateful for this one gift .

That引导同位语从句(仅需要了解即可)

that引导同位语从句时,应在某些抽象名词如fact, hope, desire, thought, suggestion, idea,

news, problem, possibility等后,对前面的名词起补充说明的作用,that只起引导作用,在同位语从句中不充当任何成分,但一般不能省略。

He has made a promise to his boss that he'll return in three days as long as he can get to the

destination in time.

他向他老板承诺只要他能及时到达目的地就会三天后回来。

宾语补足语:

英语中有些及物动词,除有一个直接宾语以外,还要有一个宾语补语,才能使句子的意义完整。带有宾语补足语的一般句型为:某些及物动词(如make等+宾语+宾补)。宾补可由名词、形容词、副词、不定式、分词、介词短语和从句充当。例如:

His father named him Dongming.(名词)

They painted their boat white.(形容词)

Let the fresh air in.(副词)

You mustn’t force him to lend his money to you.(不定式短语)

We saw her entering the room.(现在分词)

We found everything in the lab in good order.(介词短语)

We will soon make our city what your city is now.(从句)

高考英语语法主谓一致单句

2.More than one student has read the book. 很多学生读过这本书。

主语有more 或构成,尽管从意义上看是复数内容,但它的谓语动词仍用单数形式。

A survey was recently held on the Internet about whom we teenagers will turn to when we meet

troubles in our life or study.
